We are best known for our gourmet hamburgers – ground in-house from Certified Angus Beef and served with a host of unique toppings – and our broad and ever-changing lineup of the finest craft beers – with an emphasis on local and regional selections. Other popular items include hand-cut french fries, fish tacos, entree-sized salads, Edgar’s Drunken Chili and the daily Market Fish Sandwich. The original Poe’s Tavern opened in 2003 on Sullivan’s Island, SC in a converted early 1900s beach cottage. In connecting to the island’s rich history, Poe’s honors the eminently talented and troubled writer Edgar Allan Poe, who was stationed there at Fort Moultrie in 1827 while enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Poe’s Tavern has been recognized by Zagat and MSN as the Best Hamburger in South Carolina and has been featured in a number of prominent national media outlets including the New York Times and the Food Network. Following a second location in 2011 in Atlantic Beach, FL, we opened our third location in Wrightsville Beach, NC in 2015, just east of the Intracoastal Waterway on south Harbor Island.
